Initial Roster Set – Observations and Random Ramblings

A glance at the talent pool PTF is offering at the start-up of its inaugural season – the observations and random ramblings will focus in on the key attributes by position. On occasion, taking age and contract into account – all commentary is being done prior to the advancement of the 2003 offseason.

Please note: All commentary is based on attributes BEFORE the file is advanced to 2003 where regression (30+ years old) and progression (Rookie and 2nd year players) will take place.

QB
Key Attributes: AWR / THP / THA

The roster set offers us 21 QB with AWR of 80 or better… I project 7 of those QBs retire when we advance to the 2003 offseason (Gannon, Cunningham, Beuerlein, Testaverde, Flutie, O’Donnell and Chandler). It seems, of the remaining 14 QBs with AWR of 80 and higher… 4 of those will start with a tendency of SCRAMBLER.

The roster set offers us 29 QB with THA of 85 or better… I project 7 of those QBs retire when we advance to the 2003 offseason (Gannon, Cunningham, Beuerlein, Testaverde, Flutie, O’Donnell and Chandler). It seems, of the remaining 14 QBs with THA of 85 and higher… 5 of those will start with a tendency of SCRAMBLER.

I tend to look at THP with MUCH more forgiveness… the floor being 85 or lower being a problem. Though the roster set offers 46 QBs with THP of 86 and higher… once you look past QBs that will be regressing, AWR below 70 and THA below 75 – your left with 16 QBs.

The READY for Prime Time Football list is probably 10-14 names long (as low as 10 due to 4 of those QBs likely needing a tendency change – likely 50K to change)… my top 3 QBs I’d desire (if I were starting a Franchise) are:
1. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning
3. Donovan McNabb

REACP: The league is NOT flooded with QB talent (thank God) and I suspect numerous Franchises / GMs will look to the draft or recently drafted QBs to groom… I think we’ll see, at a minimum, 3 QBs drafted in the 1st round – and young QBs like Drew Brees and Michael Vick emerge in short time.
