PTF 2003 Mock Draft

This Mock Draft is based off pre-private workout reveal... so, things could be influenced WILDLY if players take a bad skew - raising other talent toward the top of the round.

1.01 – QB Carson Palmer… if you’re holding the first overall selection in the draft and your team doesn’t have a quality starting QB – you have TWO choices: 1] Select the best QB available! 2] TRADE DOWN! I’m of the opinion there is NOT a clear cut best QB without doing private workouts – so I have the Bengals selecting Palmer (just feels right).

1.02 – WR Anquan Boldin – another team in desperate need of a QB (even though they have 4 on the roster) – against ALL logic, the Lions take a WR (Boldin seems the safer bet, though Andree Johnson is tempting).

1.03 – QB Chris Simms… the Steelers got aggressive to climb near the top of round 1, so I’d be absolutely SHOCKED if they didn’t select a QB. It would have been easy to take Leftwich here, and wouldn’t blame the Steelers, but I think it’s the former Longhorn with the 3rd overall selection.

1.04 – QB Rex Grossman… this seems like an easy selection, knowing there’s not a single QB on the roster right now. Gotta be Grossman or Leftwich, for obvious reasons the Bears go Grossman.

1.05 – WR Andre Johnson… supposedly, “in Quincy we trust” and the Cowboys get their starting QB a GREAT target in Johnson.

1.06 – QB Brooks Bollinger… no one blows more smoke than the Arizona Cardinals front office – I think I can see through their attempt to cloud their true intentions, they take a QB and ship Plummer out of town [get pennies on the dollar for him].

1.07 – ROLB E.J. Henderson… assuming the Houston Texans show up for the draft, they take the FIRST defensive player of round 1 [I’d say it’s only about a 50/50 chance this pick gets made].

1.08 – RG Chris Dielman… though there are other needs to fill on the roster, this selection solidifies the offensive line as one of the best in PTF.

1.09 – CB Terence Newman… no one saw the best defensive back in this draft sliding this far down the first round – this one should be an EASY selection.

1.10 – QB Byron Leftwich… it can be difficult to understand the analysys the Baltimore Ravens front office puts into evaluating talent at times – but, there’s a need for a QB (Jeff Blake is no spring chicken) and Byron Leftwich is probably the last of the first round talent at the position, so he’s the pick.

YUP... 5 QB's take in the top 10 - it'll happen, you heard it here FIRST!
