2003 NFC Predictions

NFC East

1. Philadelphia Eagles
2. Dallas Cowboys
3. Washington Redskins
4. New York Giants

Analysis: The Philadelphia Eagles will win this division -- I don't think anybody doubts that. I think the better question is how many games the win. I think it could easily by 12. But...and this might be some PTSD bias coming into play...I like the Dallas Cowboys to be second in this division. GM Shapiro almost always finds ways to win and I think he could make a run with this squad (no playoffs though). The Washington Redskins will be third place, with a team that is either going to develop or need to rebuild. Last place is the New York Giants, just because they should be ashamed for drafting Tony Romo.

NFC North

1. Green Bay Packers
2. Minnesota Vikings
3. Detroit Lions
4. Chicago Bears

Analysis: There has been a lot of love for the Minnesota Vikings and the roster they have assembled (and inherited), but I'm going out on a limb here and saying that they won't be the best team in the division -- that will be the Green Bay Packers. Overall, they are a more complete team that will make a big difference in a long run. The Detroit Lions will be third place, which puts the Chicago Bears in last place. And no, that's not a knock on Brent. I just have to words as to why: Kliff Kingsbury.

NFC South

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2. Atlanta Falcons
3. New Orleans Saints
4. Carolina Panthers

Analysis: I think the aging Tampa Bay Buccaneers still have enough left in the tank to take another swing at the Lombardi but their window is closing fast. Coming up behind them are the upstart Atlanta Falcons who will be good if they can figure out Michael Vick. The New Orleans Saints also have potential, because we know GM Wintermute knows how to win in domes. Last place is the GM-less Carolina Panthers, but they should have someone very soon!

NFC West

1. St. Louis Rams
2. San Francisco 49ers
3. Seattle Seahawks
4. Arizona Cardinals

Analysis: The St. Louis Rams are ready to win right now and even have protection against injuries -- I like this team a lot and GM Walstead will be competitive with them. I do think the San Francisco 49ers will be better than their GM thinks they will, but it's a long-term rebuild they are looking at. Third place is the Seattle Seahawks who will be competitive long-term, but aren't there yet. Last place is my Arizona Cardinals, because while I'm optimistic for the future, one offseason wasn't enough to fix this team.

NFC Playoff Seedings

1. Green Bay Packers
2. St. Louis Rams
3. Philadelphai Eagles
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
5. San Francisco 49ers
6. Minnesota Vikings
