Welcome to the first edition of Superman vs Bizarro game!, Those were on the multiverse already know about this game, but anyway: On this article and game, I'll try to do an analysis + comments of the players taken during draft, Superman team = highest players taken on the position, Bizarro team= the next players taken. The purpose of this game is to analyze how different are the top prospects compared to the coming up prospects. Sometimes the differences are small, in others the differences are massive, and on weird scenarios Bizarro ends up with better players.

For this edition the HC of the teams will be my good friends: GM Brad Barber (Packers GM) and GM AF (Champa Tampa for friends) ((Broncos GM)

Usually the articles and game are before week 1, but it's very posible I'll run it for next week, it depends if can have defense ready for tomorrow (Will try)

With all that explained and introduction ready, here we go:

Superman Team

QB Carson Palmer 1.1 - Cincinnati Bengals

21 yo - 6”5 - 235 63 spd - 55 awr - 93 thp - 90 tha

Considered as the top QB of the class, was taken 1st overall by Bengals. Palmer fills a need in the most important position, his legs are not that fast to make him an scrambler, and he comes with elite throwing skills of 93 thp and 90 tha. He could use better football IQ as only has 55 awr, He’s young at only 21 yo, so expect some raw years but will become a top QB on the league if the team gives him the opportunity to develop. Superman takes the lead with this pick

HB Larry Johnson 1.7 - Houston Texans

21 yo - 6”1 - 235 - 87 spd - 84 str - 55 awr - 93 agi - 92 acc - 72 cth - 86 car - 84 btk

Texans franchise is under rebuild and they decided to take their secure their backfield for the next decade, Larry Johnson is a big powerful running back with high carry and break tackle. His speed should increase as he gets training camps and experience on the league, the same thing with the awareness. Taking a runningback this high is always questionable but on this case he should be able to prove his value during next years. The 21 yo is a very important factor thinking on long term, which seems to be Texans priority

FB Jeremy Johnson 3.10 - Baltimore Ravens

21 yo - 5”11 - 275 - 84 spd - 79 str - 59 awr - 74 agi - 80 acc - 52 cth - 94 car - 74 btk - 46 pbk - 44 rbk

We had to wait till 3rd round for see the 1st fb taken, probably many scouts had BJ Askew going before given the 40 yard dash results, but Ravens paid attention to other attributes make Johnson unique, despite being short at only 5”11 he’s very heavy at 275, making him an small wreckingball, additionally he’s young at 21 yo giving him time to develop and be a long time starter, his best attributes are on carry with an extraordinary 94. Ravens and Superman got a poweback here

WR Anquan Boldin 1.2 - Detroit Lions

23 yo - 6”1 - 220 - 97 spd - 68 str - 53 awr - 95 agi - 98 acc - 81 cth - 91 jmp

The 2nd overall pick went to the most explosive offensive player of the draft, with 97 speed it’s matter of time before he become 99 spd - 99 acceleration, bolding has solid hands at 81 catch but very slow football IQ at 53 awr. The big question mark for Bolding comes on the player will throw him the ball, Lions do not have QB, and he’s 23 yo, he should help develop the new talent joins team, but how many prime seasons will he get, that’s still to see. He’s high on the bets for Superman vs Bizarro MVP odds.

WR Andre Johnson 1.4 - Chicago Bears

22 yo - 6”3 - 220 - 90 spd - 80 str - 68 awr - 96 agi - 88 acc - 89 cth - 98 jmp

The best way I have to describe Johnson is a veteran is a rookie disguise, he’s extremely polished for a young player, and Bears acquired a top player for present and future.Andre Johnson doesn’t have any weakness, but if have to be strict with him, he doesn’t have the speed for become a deep threat, with the years as he attend some training camps will fix that issue and become one of best WR of league, similar to Boldin, he will need some time before explode as arrived a team with no QB. With a 6”3 - 80 str body frame with 89 catch will be a nightmare for cornerbacks

TE Jason Witten 1.27 - Washington Redskins

21 yo - 6”6 - 263 - 84 spd - 68 str - 59 awr - 75 agi - 85 acc - 83 cth

The Redskins surprised league when drafted Witten at 1st round, his speed was a bit low during the draft combine, but looks like he was saving his real talent and during pro-day and private visit with Washington proved to be a stud, Witten is a very young prospect at 21 yo, elite size of 6”6 and impressive speed of 84, he has all the tools to be one of the most dominant TE, specially with those reliable hands. Excellent addition for Skins and Superman

OT Jordan Gross -1.10 - Baltimore Ravens

21 yo - 6”4 - 305 - 66 spd - 93 str - 61 awr - 67 agi - 76 acc - 81 pbk - 91 rbk

Ravens acquire the 2nd OL on the draft and the first OT in Jordan Gtoss, a young player with elite run blocking and solid awr - pbk. He’s atheltic with decent speed and top acceleration, his body is very average, not being overly tall, heavy or strong, that doesn’t represent a flaw, but not an advantage either. He should develop into a very solid OL

OT Jon Stinchcomb - 1.25 - New York Giants

22 yo - 6”5 - 315 - 63 spd - 89 str - 59 awr - 72 agi - 73 acc - 81 pbk - 85 rbk

The second OT comes from New York with quick feet high agi-acc combo Jon Stinchcomb, he doesn’t have a single elite attribute but is very balanced all around and should be able to progress his strength by doing some training camps. He’s above average on his block skills- football IQ.

C Ryan Pontbriand - 1.21 - Cleveland Browns

24 yo - 6”2 - 255 - 69 spd - 99 str - 67 awr - 59 agi - 66 acc - 87 pbk - 91 rbk

This is a very interesting pick, he’s very fast, strong and comes with elite block skills and high awr. There’s 2 big concerns that will determine if the pick is a home run or not for the Browns. 1) He’s very small, not only short but light. (Maybe the strength can help), and 2) he’s 24 yo. I don’t think that’s necessarily bad, specially for a prospect as him, a 21 yo player can end up playing 3 low level seasons and not reach current attributes of Pontbriand, I think is a good pick if can live with those 2 “flaws”

OG Kris Dielman - 1.6 - Arizona Cardinals

21 yo - 6”4 - 320 - 75 spd - 91 str - 62 awr - 65 agi - 69 acc - 92 pbk - 91 rbk

The 1st OL drafted on the draft is not other than a complete stud, for anyone that value the position this has to be an outstanding pick, Dielman doesn’t have any flaw, he’s incredible fast, with veteran block skills and very decent awr. He’s only 21 yo, so he still can progress to 99-99-99 something extremely hard to archive for an OL. Superman must be happy with this OL

OG Derrick Dockery - 2.30 - St.Louis Rams

22 yo - 6”6 - 325 - 57 spd - 94 str - 61 awr - 53 agi - 63 acc - 86 pbk - 75 rbk

The 2nd OG drafted had to wait almost 2 rounds, and it’s clear the quality between both is a big contrast, Dockery is a very physical OL, at 6”6 - 325 will be hard for DL to push him, he ain’t very athletic, so his participation at run game might not be spectacular, he has solid awr and very good pbk, needs to improve rbk.

Bizarro Team

QB Gibran Hamdan 1.3 - Pittsburgh Steelers

22 yo - 6”4 - 220 - 60 spd - 64 awr - 97 thp - 75 tha

Steelers were aggressive and traded up to 1.3 for grab the QB with the best football IQ of the draft, he comes with a cannon arm of 97 thp but has to work in his throw accuracy, if we combine the progressable attributes THA and AWR. Palmer has 6 points advantadges ober Gibran, but Gibran has 4 more points into THP. I would say the biggest difference between both QB is the way attributes are ordered and the 1 yo difference. Aside that, Bizarro will have a solid QB for the game

HB Willis McGahee 1.19 - New England Patriots

23 y - 6”0 - 235 - 94 spd - 88 str - 60 awr - 87 agi - 93 acc - 66 cth - 89 car - 94 btk

The 2nd HB of this draft is a complete stud, at least on this position Bizarro is in a fair situation, and relying on Willis could be the key for win the game. McGahee fall to 1.19 during draft but the wait allowed him to arrive a to a team is ready to fight for championship, he’ll get all the snaps directly from Brady and that’s a bonus, for a player as rookie has 89 carry and 94 break tackle, attributes that are not common even on long time veterans. He’s one of the most polished players on draft and should have immediate impact, the speed needs a bonus, but training camps should help with that.

FB B.J. Askew - 3.15 - Dallas Cowboys

23 yo - 6”3 - 233 - 88 spd - 66 str - 54 awr - 78 agi - 83 acc - 55 cth - 63 car - 80 btk - 33 pbk - 51 rbk

The rumors indicate Askew will play as TE for his new team, but for this exercise he’s playing the FB position, he grabbed attention because his hight sped, he has a respectable 6”3 size but is a bit light. His speed is by far the best attribute, being the fastest player in position at the league, aside that he’s not spectacular at other attributes, is decent at many of them but still needs to polish his football IQ and the passing block skills are dangerous low. Bizarro acquired a player can do big plays, and could explode in any moment

Kassim Osgood 1.17 - New Orleans Saints

22 yo - 6”5 - 220 - 89 spd - 64 str - 55 awr - 84 agi - 92 acc - 78 catch

I’ll say 2 statements on my logic makes sense about how thi league works and that would be hard to explain to a new player. 1) Osgood is one of the best value picks of first round at 1.17 2) if Osgood were not 6”5 he has the level of day 3 WR. Of course the 1st one is real and the 2nd is a supposition but it speaks about how size can make or break a player on this case, Osgood is not special in any means but being extremely talk, and then when judge him with size on mind he’s very good, if that makes sense. He has all the elements to dominate cornerbacks and with the respect to Boldin and Johnson that are “better” prospects, it wouldn’t surprise me if Osgood ends being the most productive WR of the class,as the other 2 players, he do needs better QB before explode. Bizarro is in good hands

WR Brandon Lloyd 1.23 - New England Patriots

22 yo - 6”0 - 200 - 92 spd - 69 str - 56 awr - 84 agi - 93 acc - 80 cth

Brandon Lloyd is a very solid WR, but personally consider him 1 or 2 steps behind the big 3 of this draft, and ironically he’s the one landed on a ready for compete team with QB, having a QB as Brady should help his progression, and if he assist some training camps has the potential in some seasons to be borderline elite. Aside his low agility doesn’t really have flaws, and his speed is better than almost all young players

TE Antonio Gates 2.2 - Detroit Lions

22 yo - 6”4 - 255 - 87 spd - 68 str - 59 awr - 81 agi - 83 acc - 81 cth - 52 pbk - 51 rbk

Dallas Clark was suppose to be 1st TE taken, so Bizarro getting him, right? **Insert Anakin-Padme meme** In another “surprise” at the position Lions found a diamond at the top of the 2nd round, definitely a 1st round quality player, kudos to Detroit. Gates not as tall as Witten but is faster, but have very similar attributes aside that, and both should be top TE on the league, this matchup will be one of the most interesting of the game. 6”4 - 87 spd TE is crazy good

OT Marques Ogden 2.3 - Houston Texans

21 yo - 6”6 312 - 68 spd - 92 str - 57 awr - 65 agi - 75 acc - 87 pbk - 75 rbk

Texans did draft 2 OT at early 2nd round and both will be together for bizarro team, the first one is Ogden an interesting prospect,he’s very athletic and tall, and comes with a decent awr, and very good pbk, he does need to improve his rbk but being 21 yo he has more than enough time for do it, he’s the kind of player worth to progress cause as soon as gets more awr and block skills will be one of the best OL of the league

OT David Diehl - 2.7 - Houston Texans

23 yo - 6”6 - 310 - 63 spd - 86 str - 55 awr - 66 agi - 76 acc - 79 pbk - 85 rbk

The second OT for Texans and Bizarro team is David Diehl contrary to Ogden he has better run block skills than pass block skills comes with a similar awr, and almost identical body frame, but same height and just 2 lb difference, Diehl is less athletic so at long term has less potential and also is 2 years older, something that could play a role. For this game he can contribute immediately on the run.

C Bruce Nelson - 2.32 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

22 yo 6”5 - 301 - 62 spd - 93 str - 55 awr - 62 agi - 70 acc - 74 pbk - 84 rbk

Compared with the immediate impact of the center selected by Superman team, Bizarro will have a disvantadge on this game, but thinking on the long term and career of Nelson he’s a very solid center, he has good size, good strength, and solid speed, agi , acc. He does needs more awr and pbk, but those are attributes can be progressed, drafted at late 2nd he doesn’t have the pressure of being immediate impact player and can be seen as a prospect

OG Vince Manuwai - 3.7 - New York Giants

22 yo - 6”2 - 333 - 60 spd - 87 str - 55 awr - 57 agi - 67 acc - 83 pbk - 83 rbk

The first OG for Bizarro comes at early 3rd round, the difference with Kris Dielman is massive, but as prospect Manuwai has the tools to become a starter on the league, thanks to his 83 attribute on both of his block skills, and a respectable 55 awr for a rookie, of course he has to progress that one before become an impact player but is posible. He’s very heavy, specially considering his height, but he lacks some athleticism. Still a solid player

OG Steve Sciullo - 3.9 - Carolina Panthers

23 yo - 6”5 - 330 - 53 spd - 89 str - 52 awr - 65 agi - 63 acc - 74 pbk - 77 rbk

The weakest player of Bizarro OL, aside his 6”5 and 330 size, he doesn’t have anything else respectable, low block skills on the 70’s, slow without fast feets, not weak but not strong and being 23 yo extremely hard he develops into a good player, he has the attributes for be a roster filler that could start some seasons before team finds a better player
