2004 PTF Mock Draft

1.16 Oakland Raiders - CB Keith Smith

The Raiders cornerback room has multiple spots open after Charles Woodson. Smith is only 22 with plus physical tools (95 SPD, 99 AGI, 96 ACC) and is a healthy 5’11”. He could start opposite of Woodson and after a bit of seasoning (and growing pains) could be one of the better corners in the league.

1.17 Chicago Bears - DT Vince Wilfork

Sorry, no QB for you. As a consolation prize, Wilfork would enter the league a pretty rare talent as currently no DT matches his skill set. The nose tackle has 64 SPD, 94 STR and 81 ACC to go along with 87 TAK. That would make him 1 of 1 in the PTF. Chicago runs a 34 defense and securing an anchor like him with middle linebackers Urlacher and Mitchell would make the defense that much more intimidating.

1.18 New Orleans - QB Cody Pickett

The Saints may reach a little here, or maybe not, depending on the private workout. The team has a couple of stopgap QBs in Delhomme and Brooks, but it’d be wise to look to the future now. Pickett is only 21 with 63 AWR already with good throwing power (93). His accuracy needs a lot of work (77 THA) though. If the team visit goes well, he could potentially be a bit of a steal at 18th overall considering the totality of this quarterback class.

1.19 Seattle Seahawks - OLB Gilbert Gardner

Quarterbacks will live in constant fear as last year’s DPOY EJ Henderson pairs up with Gardner, who may be just as much of a freak at 93 SPD and 92 ACC and 80 STR. Opposing offensive lineman will also be nervous when these two come on blitzes together. The only downside is his 6 INJ rating, so hitting the QB too hard might end up injuring them both.

1.20 Jacksonville Jaguars - WR Maurice Mann

The 6’2” Nevada product has great speed and get off (96 SPD, 99 ACC) that the Jags could use as their WR room is looking needy. He is injury prone (27 INJ) and needs to hit the jug machine early and often (62 CTH) but at 22 he has the time to develop into a fine starting caliber player, if not a Pro-Bowler.

1.21 Carolina Panthers - CB Greg Brooks

Brooks has elite traits (97 SPD, 76 STR, 95 AGI, 99 ACC) at respectable 5’11”. He also has good awareness at 60 for a 22 year old. However, he’s another injury prone player with 17 INJ and 0 TGH. Risky but it could work out well if he can stay on the field most seasons.

1.22 San Francisco 49ers - OT Max Starks

Starks is a massive human being at 6’8”, 345lbs, but he also can move relatively well (59 SPD, 69 AGI, 75 ACC). Other big positives is his age, 22, and his pass blocking prowess this young(88 PBK). I can see this being the pick if the private workout improve his mobility and/or blocking skill set. If his AGI is any indication, I think his athleticism improves, making him a good value here. 9ers are old at the tackle position and need to address its future.

1.23 Baltimore Ravens - WR Johnnie Morant

Another 6’4” wide receiver, and another one with injury concerns. Morant is also 24 but could potentially have 99 SPD, so it’s worth a shot. He’d suit up alongside the Ravens 2003 second round pick. 6’4” Tyrone Calico.

1.24 Kansas City Chiefs - SS Rashad Washington

Washington is 6’2”, 22 years old, and possesses a well-rounded skill set. What’s the catch? You guessed it, more injury concerns. What the heck. Add in his 61 AWR at his age and it sets him apart from the rest that’s left at the position.

1.25 Philadelphia Eagles - OLB Charlie Anderson

Philly could use some help at linebacker. Anderson is 6’4”, 250lbs and checks all the athletic boxes (87 SPD, 90 STR, 85 ACC). He’s also not injury prone, which in this draft is a huge plus. If his private workouts pans out, he may even go sooner.

1.26 Carolina Panthers - WR Michael Jenkins

Panthers dealt away Brooks Bollinger and acquired this pick from the Titans. Jenkins is another big receiving option, which has been plentiful in this draft so far. 6’4” with 93 SPD is tempting but he’s yet another guy with problems staying on the field.

1.27 New England Patriots - OLB Raheem Orr

The Pats could use a pass rusher, or linebackers period as they only have 2 currently on the roster, and Orr fits the bill. He’s a big linebacker at 260lbs with 92 SPD, 84 ACC but, of course, he also have injury concerns.

1.28 St Louis Rams - CB Von Hutchins

Rams currently only have 2 corners on their roster, one of them on the wrong side of 30, and the other just blows. Hutchins has great potential with 99 SPD, 97 AGI, 96 ACC. You already know what’s wrong with him so why mention it.

1.29 Buffalo Bills - DT Tommie Harris

Bills have been shopping around for a more disruptive force on the DLine, and Harris seems a fit for that role. 96 STR and 80 ACC to go along with 86 TAK is a pretty good starting point for a young DT.

1.30 Green Bay Packers - MLB Ryan Fowler
The team doesn’t have many holes, and the ones they do have, I couldn’t find an appropriate player for. Currently MLB Sharper is now 30, and Fowler is similarly built. I’m banking on a good skew to improve his speed, though his 92 STR is already impressive.

1.31 Minnesota Vikings - WR Rashaun Woods

As if they needed more offensive weapons, Woods would give them a speed demon out of the slot. 6’2” with 99 SPD, 96 ACC is great value here, even if he’s another one of the guys in this class that’s made of glass.

1.32 Indianapolis Colts - FS Etric Pruitt

The defending champs have no starting caliber FS on the team. Pruit can move with 92 SPD, 90 AGI, 94 ACC. Just one less hole to cover for their campaign to repeat.

With crying kids in the background, I’m officially mocked-drafted out….for now!
