2004 PTF DRAFT DAY STEALS

Every teams improves on draft days and like every season I like to highlight those players who I thought were solid values at the pick they got them at regardless of position. I don't know all the skews obviously but just going by the eyeball test here for some of these players. If you liked a player where they were selected feel free to voice your opinion as well. Also I didn't put a single player on this list with low to 0 INJ, it's just too hard to evaluate in case you were wondering.

1.3- Detroit Lions- S/CB Sean Taylor (Picked by GM Rodany Mendez)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 95, STR 74, AWR 65, AGI 94, ACC 96, CTH 67, JMP 94, TAK 80

I'm so glad they didn't nerf Sean Taylor like they did big Ben even if he does land in Detroit. He was the best overall player in this draft class imo before ever seeing the skew and after seeing it I haven't changed my mind as he taps out at 99 SPD/ 99 AGI/ 99 ACC when it's all said and done which makes him a very valuable chess piece that the Lions can literally move around anywhere, he'll they can move him to WR as he seems to have the same or better CTH then a bunch of them in this class. He should be a real menace for our division, not looking forward to playing him but love it to see 1 of my all time favorite players around again.

1.11- San Diego Chargers- CB Nathan Vasher (Picked by GM Darryl Breckheimer)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 95, STR 57, AWR 58, AGI 96, ACC 97, CTH 58, JMP 95, TAK 61

This was the draft of smallish corners for sure but pre draft/pre skew I thought Vasher was the #1 cornerback in this draft and seeing that he taps out at 99 SPD/99 AGI/99 ACC it just secured it for me, that was a guy i was eying at 30 but knew I had absolutely no shot that far down the board. I do like taller corners but it's hard to deny his freakish athletic ability and as an added bonus he can probably also contribute as a return and gain some more progression there as well, aa solid addition for the rebuilding or retooling however you look at it Chargers team.

1.13- Kansas City Chiefs- OT Tyson Clabo (Picked by GM Olivier Ratajczak)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 54, STR 93, AWR 64, AGI 57, ACC 72, PBK 90, RBK 88

I realize he isn't the athletic freak that Locklear is but he's by far the most well rounded OL in this class with no INJ issues, his STR/RBK/PBK are almost at the elite tier level and for a an OL that's huge plus his already 64 AWR is a great start. He'll top out at 59 SPD, 62 AGI and 77 ACC with a little TLC with the training camp progressions. Usually these types of lineman go in the top 10 especially in a draft where there aren't many available so to get him outside of that was great value imo.

1.17- Chicago Bears- DT Vince Wilfork (Picked by GM Brent Bot)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 54, STR 92, AWR 62, AGI 56, ACC 77, TAK 84

I think Wilfork is the Tyson Clabo of the defensive lineman, he will not blow you away with his SPD but his STR 93 to go along with his 325 lbs. frame and that quickness off the line 77 is going to be rough especially trying to run on them with the freak Urlacher back gehind him is going to cause some real issues no doubt in my mind which doesn't bode well for Ahman Green and our run game. His 84 tackle is also excellent and can top out at 59 SPD/ 61 AGI/ 82 ACC, he's going to be a dangerous man in the middle.

1.19- Seattle Seahawks- DT Tommie Harris (Picked by GM Rock Hewko)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 60, STR 97, AWR 60, AGI 67, ACC 77, TAK 85

Harris is another solid DT right up there with Wilfork but is a very differen't type of player. He should have no trouble busting through offensive lines on his way to destroying QB's in the NFC West and I'm glad I'm not apart of it because I don't know how many more hits Favre has left. He doesn't have the size of Wilfork but he is one of the most athletic DT's in this class with a combination of power, speed and burst to go along with above average tackle makes this pick a gem to me.

1.21- Washington Redskins- DT Darnell Dockett (Picked by Scott Gardiner)
Private workout from Scott-
SPD 56, STR 92, AWR 60, AGI 58, ACC 77, TAK 84

As you can tell I really liked this DT class, I thought there were all types of different big uglies in the middle and to me Dockett is another run stuffer, I think he fell a bit here due to the fact most run stuffers are over 300 lbs and usually Wilforks size but with his STR and burst off the line it won't matter how big he is when he's destroying poor bastards in the backfield. Great addition by Scott here this late into the draft.

1.23- Denver Broncos- S Bob Sanders (Picked by GM Anthony Fernandez)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 94, STR 73, AWR 61, AGI 95, ACC 96, CTH 59, JMP 91, TAK 84

Sanders has many of the same traits as the dude taken 1.3 overall Mr. Sean Taylor accept Sanders is headed back to the shire to go on an adventure with Bilbo Baggins, he's only 5'8" which is truly the only reason he fell this far in the draft especially the fact that he can top out at 99 SPD/ 99 AGI/ 99 ACC and anytime you grab that especially later in the round then 100% you'll be landing a draft day steal. His 84 tackle is alo solid, he may still have trouble with the much larger recivers and tightends but this is familiar territory as I recall AF taking a smaller safety when he was GM of the Cowboys so I have no doubt he'll flourish in Denver.

1.24- Houston Texans- CB Jeremy LeSueur (Picked by GM Anthony Cepparulo)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 91, STR 60, AWR 64, AGI 90, ACC 92, CTH 26, JMP 88, TAK 78

He's never going to be a ball hawk for the Texans with that 26 CTH but he still can be a very solid shutdown corner for them for years to come. He can top out at 96 SPD/ 95 AGI and 97 ACC and 1 of the the few corners who were 6'0" or over so I feel they got themselves a steal here late in the round. I see him competing for the NCB position in year 1 then transitioning to an outside corner position down the road but also has the traits to start right away.

2.4- Atlanta Falcons- CB Derrick Strait (Picked by GM Peter Fenger)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 94, STR 61, AWR 58, AGI 94, ACC 91, CTH 49, JMP 91, TAK 56

Another smallish corner but also another athletic freak who will top out at 99 SPD/ 99 AGI/ 96 ACC but they get him at the top of round 2 and didn't even need to burn a 1st on a corner which is always great value. He fell due to everything else being average like AWR/CTH and TAK but you can't teach athleticism. He'll take some time to get acclimated but most likely looks to start opposite of law and will most likely have some growing pains along the way but a solid pick here for the dirty birds.

2.11- Carolina Panthers- DT Marcus Tubbs (Picked by GM Daren Roberts)
Private workout from site-
SPD 65, STR 86, AWR 57, AGI 62, ACC 75, TAK 77

I really liked the top 4 DT's in this draft class who to me were Wilfork, Harris, Dockett and Tubbs. I really liked Tubbs upside considering he's only 21 years old and 320 lbs., I didn't really like the 86 STR which I typically prefer 90 or above but as is he can top out at 93 STR which is above average but right now he's more suited for a 4-3 with his STR deficiency as is but I'm pretty sure that's what the Panthers typically play anyhow so he'll be a perfect compliment to Kris Jenkins playing alongside of him.

2.13- New England Patriots- OLB Jeremy Cain (Picked by GM Rob Stanley)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 84, STR 80, AWR 62, AGI 87, ACC 86, CTH 21, TAK 67

He can top out at 89 SPD, 92 AGI and 91 ACC which puts him in a league of his own but does come with a few warts like already being an old man at 24 years old also don't ask him to drop into coverage ever and he's a poor tackler but lucky for Rob those can all be worked on frequently throughout the season but you can't teach athletic ability like I preach about so often in these mocks and cain is a freak of nature, maybe switch him to DE and let him rush the passer but wherever he starts it was a really solid pick here in the 2nd for the Pats.

3.13- New England Patriots- CB Keiwan Ratliff (Picked by GM Rob Stanley)
Private workout from discord-
SPD 90, STR 65, AWR 57, AGI 93, ACC 93, CTH 49, JMP 88, TAK 62

I think I like Ratliff more from what he can become which will be a 5'11" corner with 95 SPD/ 98 AGI/ 98 ACC. Another guy who will have ball hawking deficiency but also could be a solid cover corner for several years also. I like a guy who can breakup passes just as much as players who intercept them although he probably won't be doing much of that as the outside corners for the Pats are pretty much covered for a few years but should have a solid role as a NCB and ease his way into the starting lineup.
