Power Ranking

Every team has now played the same number of games [nine]… and with that, it seem appropriate to release the PTF League Power Ranking.

Some quick observations…

1. Minnesota Vikings – Even with WR Randy Moss out for 6+ games, the Vikings haven’t missed a beat (during that stretch)! The 4th highest scoring team has leaned on HB Clinton Portis HEAVILY and been rewarded handsomely (Portis in the league leading rusher).
2. Dallas Cowboys – There’s a lot going right for the Cowboys… QB Drew Brees seems to found his way back to respectability, and an impressive defense that can boast CB Ray Buchanan with 8 INTs and LE Earl Cochran with 11 sacks just added an absolute STUD in MLB Brian Urlacher.
3. Baltimore Ravens – The jury may still be out on whether the Ravens are a contender or Paper Tiger… the schedule thus far has been SOFT (not their fault). The team will be tested to close the season, in their final 7 games they have 4 VERY tough opponents (Cowboys, Patriots, Colts & Steelers).
4. San Diego Chargers – Nothing comes easy (it seems)… you lose your starting QB and starting SS for the season week 4 and then lose a HEART breaker week 5 vs the Jacksonville Jaguars. But the Chargers are scrappy and have won 4 straight with solid defense, T.O.P. and turnover differential. It’s worth mentioning, the Charger just acquired QB Steve McNair in an attempt to ensure post season play is in play this season.
5. St. Louis Rams – There have been plenty of HIGHS and LOWS for the Rams this season. Impressive wins against Buccaneers and Patriots have been offset by disappointing losses to the Seahawks and Dolphins. The Warner to Holt connection has been incredible [over 1000 yards and 7 TDs]… but Holt just went down with a season ending injury.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Defensively, RE Michael Haynes (appears he’s playing on the left side) has 11 sacks while CB Brian Kelly has 7 INTs. Offensively, WR Joe Jurevicius had 8 TDs… HB Chris Perry has carried the load on the ground with 826 yards and 5 TDs. Buccaneers could be lethal if Perry can avoid fumbles [6 of them] and QB Drew Bledsoe can avoid INTs [14 of them].
