PTF 2004 - Week 12 Power Ranking

Top 12 – In playoff Contention
• The very top of the Power Ranking is unchanged… the Vikings and Cowboys were winners (the Vikings in a dominant display while the Cowboys needed a Madden Miracle.
• The Chargers, Bills and Buccaneers climb while the Ravens and Rams slip… the Chargers won a close battle with a divisional foe, Bills had a dramatic come from behind win while the Bucc’s manhandled their opponent.
• The Colts stay steady in the ranking… though they defeated the LOWLY Monsters of the Midway – the Colts, at 6-4, have been a disappointment thus far.
• Newcomers to the top 12… the Panthers, Patriots, Jaguars and Packers all won!

No Mans Land
• “Movin’ on Up!”… both the Saints & Bengals had impressive victories and find themselves with hope of a Post Season invite (doubtful, but possible).
• “Going Down?”… there’s still hope for the Broncos, Titans, Redskins, Cardinals & 49ers (all are 5-5) – but for a Post Season invite, these teams will need to pull of at LEAST a 4-2 finish to the season.
• “December”… at this point of the season, I think most would have bet on the Browns scouting the college talent and preparing for the 2005 draft – but look who’s 5-5 (maybe the BIGGEST surprise of the year – nice job Bill Ryan)!

Playing for 2005 – The Smith Sweepstakes
• “When It’s Over”… seems there’s nothing to play for – not good enough to sneak into Post Season play and not bad enough for the “Smith Sweepstakes”. Combined, the Seahawks, Eagles, Steelers, Raiders, Chiefs, Dolphins, Texans & Falcons went 3-5 and I suspect that’ll continue to be the trend for this group, they’ll be picking between 5 and 12 in the 2005 draft.
• “Everything You Want”… the “Smith Sweepstakes’ probably ends up being fought for until the bitter end (between the Bears and Jets) – But the Mendez Brothers have a 5 game losing streak (combined) and are hoping to reach for the brass ring!
