WAY TOO EARLY 2005 MOCK DRAFT V1.0

1.1- New York Jets- QB Alex Smith- Utah
Smith is definitely not a finished product but he starts off with excellent football IQ for a rookie. He doesn't have a rocket launcher for an arm but it's adequate and can be worked on. His accuracy is very good also. It's going to take some time but with some work Smith can be a top tier QB in the SFL.

1.2- Chicago Bears- QB Derek Anderson- Oregon State
Anderson is the enigma of the draft to me, his size, top tier THP/THA and solid starting AWR make him the top QB but his age will be a turn off to some for sure. He could be the top QB off the board just as easily we shall see.

1.3- Atlanta Falcons- WR Braylon Edwards- Michigan
Edwards is the most polished of all the WR in this class with outstanding hands, great size, excellent football AWR and will have no troubles competing for contested catches. I see him as the immediate WR1.

1.4- San Diego Chargers- WR Matt Jones- Arkansas
The Super bowl champs trade up and land Matt Jones at 6'6" will give the Chargers another tall WR for Eli manning to throw to. Jones isn't as polished as Edwards but still plenty athletic with solid hands.

1.5- New Orleans Saints- CB/S Antrel Rolle- Miami
Rolle is in the Troy Polamalu/Sean Taylor mold where he can be played anywhere in the secondary. Rolle is an athletic freak of nature with good size, awareness, decent hands, excellent tackler and will contest for jump balls with ease.

1.6- New York Jets- WR Vincent Jackson- Northern Colorado
The Jets give their new franchise QB a huge target in the 6'5" 230 lbs Jackson. He's a great athlete for a guy his size, solid starting awareness and above average hands who will easily form a solid duo alongside WR Eric Moulds.

1.7- Miami Dolphins- OL Michael Roos- Eastern Washington
I guess we'll just keep giving Felip OL until they take 1. Roos can play anywhere along the line, offers excellent size at 6'7" 318 lbs, solid strength, some of the quickest feet in this class and already comes with borderline elite pass/run blocking and could anchor the line for years to come.

1.8- Washington Redskins- QB Aaron Rodgers- Cal
Rodgers has above average football AWR which is a great starting point when selecting a QB this high. He also has a cannon arm but will need to work on his accuracy at the PTF level. I'm not sure if this makes sense for Washington but 18 TD to 27 INT from Patrick Ramsey isn't cutting it in Washington.

1.9- New York Giants- ILB Alfred Fincher- UConn
Fincher provides the Giants with stabilty and solid athletic ability in the middle of that defense. He's smart, can shed tackles with ease, will drop back into coverage and be able to handle TE's and running backs all game long.

1.10- Cleveland Browns- CB Ron Bartell- Howard
The Browns add much needed help in their secondary. Bartell at 6'1" gives them size, he's a top tier athlete, with above average hands and tackling and should start immediately.

1.11- Kansas City Chiefs- OL Adam Terry- Syracuse
Terry will be a plug and play OL for the Chiefs giving them a 6'8" monster to anchor the OL for years to come. He is very quick off his feet with top tier STR and above average run and pass blocking.

1.12- San Francisco 49ers- ILB Lofa Tatupu- USC
Like Fincher, Tatupu can play in any scheme fit. He has the size, sideline to sideline ability, excellent strength to shed blockers, solid in coverage and an above average tackler who will be a plug and play starter for San Fran.

1.13- New York Giants- S Justin Beriault- Ball State
His 6'3" 210 lbs frame gives the Giants excellent size at the position. A above average athlete, tackler and ball hawk to go along with above average AWR and just a solid all around starter.

1.14- Philadelphia Eagles- OLB Derrick Johnson- Texas
Athletic, agile, who could come in right away and surplant Wayne as the starting ROLB. He can play in any scheme fit with his size and adequate STR.

1.15- Philadelphia Eagles- OL Jammal Brown- Oklahoma
Brown is a plug and play starter and although he's not a great athlete has elite STR, run and pass blocking to go with above average AWR. He could anchor the OL for years to come at any position along the OL.

1.16- Cincinnati Bengals- WR Jerome Mathis- Hampton
Mathis has to be a very intriguing player but some GM's will not like his size 5'11" or JMP 53 so he slides a bit. He will give the Bengals a blazer opposite of Ocho stinko. He has a nice set of hands and doubles as a top tier kick and punt returner giving him dual threat capability.

1.17- Chicago Bears- CB Marlin Jackson- Michigan
Jackson provides the Bears with a tall corner at 6'. excellent athlete who could hang with just about all of the top WR's and should do well with 50/50 jump balls.

1.18- Carolina Panthers- CB Mike Hawkins- Oklahoma
Hawkins, like many of the corners provide good size at 6'1", great athletic ability, solid hands and great at contested catches. He should start in some capacity for the Panthers.

1.19- Chicago Bears- WR Dante Ridgeway- Ball State
Ridgeway is sneaky good and may not have the flashy name as some of these other guys but he can put on the after burners once in the open field. Average hands and excellent and going up and snatching the ball away from defenders plus doubles as a solid return man.

1.20- Seattle Seahawks- S Jim Leonhard- Wisconsin
If Leonhard had more AWR I'd put him even higher but his AWR and 5'8" size made him fall but the Seahwaks GM would surely be impressed with his off the charts athletic ability and JMP ball skills and will just need to work on the rest.

1.21- Carolina Panthers- QB Andrew Walter- Arizona State
I'm not sure if the Panthers would pull the trigger on a guy like Walter or not but he has potential with work. He has the frame at 6'6" 230 lbs, and has about the same THP/THA as the #1 overall pick barring a skew down.

1.22- Jacksonville Jaguars- WR Roddy White- Notre Dame
Known as Rowdy Roddy White (A wrestling thing) by his peers. He won't blow you away with his 5'11" frame but if you blink he'll fly right past you with his blazing speed to go with his sure hands and doubles as a kick and punt return specialist.

1.23- Philadelphia Eagles- RB Ronnie Brown- Auburn
The first RB off the board but the Eagles sure could use 1. I went with Brown because he had good size but also had the athletic ability to boot. He's also up there as 1 of the best pass catchers out of the backfield plus doubles as a KR/PR.

1.24- Denver Broncos- OLB Lorenzo Alexander- Cal
His nickname is "Zo", another solid addition to that defense. He is an athletic freak, should shed tackles relatively easy plus drop back into coverage taking on those TE's and RB's.

1.25- Baltimore Ravens-DT Anthony Bryant- Alabama
Bryant is by far the biggest monstrocity in this class and I mean that in the best way possible at 6'3" 360 lbs. he has plenty of STR, quick feet and his burst to get to the RB or QB is top tier.

1.26- Pittsburgh Steelers- OL Daniel Loper- Texas Tech
No relation to Cyndi that I'm aware of. Loper comes with top tier STR which will make it easy for him to push the line. His quick feet are some of the best in this class for a 6'6" 320 lber.

1.27- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- ILB Pat Thomas- NC State
Thomas should come in right away and start for the Bucs. Another athleic LB with the ability to shed tackles, the smartest LB of the bunch when it comes to football IQ and an above average tackler right out of the gate.

1.28- Miami Dolphins- CB Stanford Routt- Houston
The Dolphins add a solid 6'1" corner, average football IQ, a solid athlete with above average JMP which will help him break up passes. He could start alongside Carrol or at NCB year 1.

1.29- Oakland Raiders- S Kurt Campbell- Alcorn State
His size and athletic ability combo should vastly improve the secondary. He'll have no problems breaking up or coming down with 50/50 balls thrown with his JMP.

1.30- Philadelphia Eagles- TE Heath Miller- Virginia
Miller to me is the best all around tight end in this class. At 6'5" he provides and excellent target for Hamden, plenty athletic, has some of the best hands in the class and is a very good pass blocker right out of the gate.

1.31- New York Jets- CB Karl Paymah- Washington State
Paymah is another solid addition to the Jets roster. A 6' corner with excellent athletic ability, average AWR, above average jump ball skills and has plenty of potential to become a top tier corner in the league.

1.32- Minnesota Vikings- OLB Shawne Merriman- Maryland
Merriman would be a solid add here with great size, above average athletic ability, solid tackler and should be a sideline to sideline player for the Vikings which I'm not looking forward to.
