PICKTEAMPLAYERANALYSIS
1.01
QB Alex SmithThe obvious choice here is a QB. Aaron Rodgers has 13 progressable attributes deficit compared to Alex Smith and he is one year older. Derek Anderson is 24 years old so he is out of the question.
1.02
WR Braylon EdwardsI believe trading for QB Brian Griese was for the starting job and the Bears could go WR or CB instead. I don’t feel any CB worthy of the second overall pick, so I went with a WR. Now I was hesitant between Edwards and Jackson, but they are the same age and Edwards has +16 progressables on Jackson.
1.03
QB Derek Anderson I can see a QB going here. Scotty has Patrick Ramsey, but he is 2 years older and has a 9 attributes deficit compared to Derek Anderson who is a solid pick here.
1.04
WR Vincent JacksonDrafting from 1.04 as the reigning champ is filthy. Mushin Muhammad is 32 years old and the Chargers can use some new blood. Jackson would be an excellent pick here. He is 6'5" with both ACC and SPD is over 90 pre skew. A lot more raw than Edwards, but cmon, he is 6'5"…
1.05
SS Antrel RolleRodgers is getting to be a more and more valuable pick as we are going down the list, but Antrel Rolle is the best player of this draft and its not even close. He is only 21 and by the time he is 24, he will be over 80 AWR with potentially 99 SPD and 99 ACC. I would play him as FS, since SS is not as valuable as a position in my eyes, and he has everything to be the second best FS in the league in a few years. After Ed Reed of course.
1.06
WR Matt JonesI believe they need both WR and CB starters, and this pick comes down to value in those positions in this draft at this point. Matt Jones might be raw with his 47 AWR, but he still has 79 CTH. His height is unique, 6'6" receivers are rare. His tall figure pairs really well with his physicals: 91 SPD, 66 STR, 96 AGI, 94 ACC. These numbers are preskew obviously, but with some luck these numbers at least stay the same and then this guy will be a monster in the coming seasons.
1.07
MLB Alfred FincherZach Thomas is 32 years old and has a $12.46M salary AND he is in his last year. Fincher is a really solid MLB already. He only needs to gain some AWR, but he is 22, plenty of playing time ahead. Highlights: 92 ACC, 85 SPD, 82 STR, 90 AGI.
1.08
OT Michael Roos The Falcons have Vick , so Rodgers is sitting a little longer. The glaring whole is at RT, although they could use CB, WR, OLB. Maybe those positions will be addressed during the first FA period, maybe not. Anyways there is a really solid RT available. Michael Roos is a monster. He has 88 ACC, yeah 88… The only downside is that he is 23 years old, but has 68 AWR already and 95 PBK… Crazy potential. Highlights: 95 PBK, 85 RBK, 63 SPD, 91 STR, 76 AGI, 88 ACC.
1.09
MLB Pat ThomasI respect that the Giants started a 7th rounder at MLB, but its time to inject some quality in there. Pat Thomas has 76 AWR and ready to start out of the draft. I must admit, he needs some luck with the skew to make this pick worth it, but if Pat Thomas is there at 1.14, I’m taking him. Highlights: 76 AWR, 80 TAK, 84 ACC, 83 SPD
1.10
CB Marlin JacksonRodgers time? No, at least I don’t think so, although I would not be surprised. I believe CB is the position here. Marlin Jackson is slightly raw, he only has 51 AWR, but he is 22, plenty of time to develop. Highlights: 94 SPD, 94 AGI, 94 SPD, 6'0" HEIGHT
1.11
WR Larry BrackinsThe Chiefs needs a tall, positional receiver. Larry Brackins is tall but very raw. I still believe the 93 SPD and 93 ACC paired with the 6'5" height is something the Chiefs should not overlook. There are other needs in the team, but not sure they want to draft a TE, OLB, HB, DE with this pick. Highlights: 93 SPD, 93 ACC, 6'5" HEIGHT
1.12
OT Adam TerryThe 49ers are developing a young QB and they need some help in the OL. Not necessarily at OT, but Terry can play as an OG and they can position change someone to the interior section. This 21 year old raw talent has 82 ACC with 79 SPD and 71 AGI. He has time to develop which he needs desperately with only 50 AWR. I can also see them pick a CB here. Highlights: 79 SPD, 95 STR, 71 AGI, 82 ACC
1.13
OT Jammal BrownI believe the Giants will go for a ready to produce player. I would have wrote ready to start, but anyone drafting a player in the first round and not starting them should retire as a GM. Unless it’s a QB, I can see a leeway there. Jammal Brown is one of the most ready OL I have seen in the recent drafts. 75 AWR, 92 PBK, 93 RBK. He can max out these attributes within 5 seasons, by the time he is 27 years old. That’s extreme value at 1.13. The negatives are his physicals. His SPD at 61 and his STR is more than fine at 97, but his AGI is 52 and his ACC is 66. With a lucky skew and some training camps its all fixable, so I would not call it a concern. Highlights: 97 STR, 75 AWR, 92 PBK, 93 RBK
1.14
OLB Derrick JohnsonI traded up for this pick because I’m not sure I can get a starter at OLB or MLB from the Free Agency. Due to the tight cap space I had to trade away two Ravens legends, Ray Lewis and Peter Boulware. Now I need to fill up this massive gap. I’m also seeking WE, CB and DT but I don’t feel those positions have value at this point with the remaining players. Johnson has 87 ACC, 94 AGI, 64 AWR, 82 SPD. All really good numbers for a rookie OLB.
1.15
MLB Lofa TatupuThis was a hard one. I can see the Redskins going for a WR or OLB as well. I decided MLB is the position with value here. He can fit right in as a starter. Highlights: 82 SPD, 82 STR, 85 AGI, 85 ACC
1.16
C Richie IncognitoCenters are not liked much early to mid round of the drafts, but I think in this case the Bengals can get a really solid starter. He has the speed with 73 ACC and 74 SPD. Also STR is 98 and progressables are solid. They can grow together with Carson Palmer and potentially achieve big things in Cincinnati. Highlights: 74 SPD, 98 STR, 64 AWR, 73 ACC, 85 PBK, 86 RBK.
