PFL – Draft Class Attribute Threshold Explanation

Each season I enjoy dumping the draft class into an EXCEL spreadsheet… and then begin my scouting process. Prior to the copy / paste of talent into EXCEL… I do a VERY quick targeting of obvious talent that catches my eye (this QUICK glance can be HEAVILY influenced based on my teams needs) – this year, 13 players were targeted before the DEEP DIVE.

After the class has been transferred to EXCEL I do some simple formatting (borders, column / row width and height and select a font that is easy on the eyes) – I also move the “POS” column to the left of the player name and place the target column to the very far left (hate “POS” placement after WT, so annoying).

Primarily, I use GREEN and RED cell color fill to identify positive and negative ratings for attributes of importance – I may evaluate attribute you don’t and may overlook attribute you find important, so the scouting of talent I do may not match up well with your view and evaluation of players.

Attributes that are globally rated… AWR, STA, INJ, TGH and KR – I may be more critical or forgiving with these attribute thresholds based on position (for example, QB I’d be more critical than K or P as it pertains to INJ).

AWR: 60 and higher is GREEN while 49 and lower is RED… I’ll attempt to address weight / importance when I review each position.
STA: 90 and higher is GREEN while 69 and lower is RED… I’ll attempt to address weight / importance when I review each position.
INJ: 90 and higher is GREEN while 69 and lower is RED… I’ll attempt to address weight / importance when I review each position.
TGH: 90 and higher is GREEN while 69 and lower is RED… I’ll attempt to address weight / importance when I review each position.
KR: 85 and higher is GREEN while I do not call out a threshold for RED.

With that being all explained… lets move through the Offense position by position – I hope you find this helpful.

WR – As the saying goes… “Speed Kills”, and it’s the highest weighted attribute followed by Acceleration with Catch and Agility coming in to round off what you should be looking for. Look to get a player with 95 or higher SPD, ACC and AGI (GREEN)… also, CTH of 80 (GREEN) and JMP of 90 (GREEN) can’t hurt.

SPD: It’s critical to have at least one guy that can “stretch” the field… I like SPD to be well developed when I draft a player at WR, so he’s impactful right away and I can focus on progressing other less important attributes.
ACC: Nearly as important as speed, I feel acceleration should be paired comparably when scouting.
bAGI: This attribute might not be as important (I’ve seen success from players well below the ideal level), but it’s best to look for the players AGI to be 90 or higher (GREEN).
CTH: Another attribute where we’ve seen players put up GAUDY stats with low CTH… this could also mean more drops (which I hate).
JMP: I’d never let this attribute deter me from drafting a player… but it is weighted and primarily is used as a tiebreaker between 2 players I see valued equally. I think if a player has 90 JMP (GREEN) you can be happy.
Other attributes of interest… Size does matter (right ladies)!

TE – Typically, a receiving threat at TE1 is desired… a player that can create mismatch issues and make a difference in the redzone.

SPD: Looking for SPD of 85 and higher (GREEN)… avoid SPD of 74 and lower (RED).
ACC: Looking for SPD of 85 and higher (GREEN)… avoid SPD of 74 and lower (RED).
AGI: Looking for SPD of 80 and higher (GREEN)… avoid SPD of 74 and lower (RED).
RBK: Looking for SPD of 50 and higher (GREEN)… avoid SPD of 39 and lower (RED).
