Here's the second edition of PTF overreactions Friday.
This segment is presented by Rich Pilsen and Chris Flockman.
Chris Flockman : Hi Rich, here's the second edition of POF but on a Thursday.
We're two weeks away from the end of the regular season. We now see mluch clearer with teams that have already clinched the playoffs or even a bye. Manning won't crush the statline as we we may have talked in the first edition.
In the AFC, there are 10 teams fighting for the last 3 playoffs spots as the PAts won't get challenged. Those teams range from 8-6 and 6-8. So, after week 17 we will have 10 teams with 8-8 and MAdden will mess with GM's mind with the ones getting in.
Rich Pilsen : Hi Chris. Nice to be back for the second edition. AS for you're prediction I think it is an over reaction, albeit that is really doable, but that means :
- Steelers loss out to Rams and Ravens. Quite possible but I see a 1-1 here
- Chargers lose to the Broncos and Raiders. Raiders can play with them now, and 0-2 is possible, but I see more 1-1 record
- Colts loose to titans and Texans. Doable too. But I see 1-1 there
- Texans win to colts and Jags. Doable too I definitely see a 0-2 here as the Texans can't win in the division
- The Jags win against the Texans and Raiders. I definitely see 2 wins here
- Bills have to win against the giants and Eagles. 1-1 record here
- Jets loose 1 and win 1 : Loose to titans and win against the Chiefs. don't see it happening regarding the injuries
- Ravens : loose to Seahawks and can win against the Steelers. 1-1 here
- Bengals : win ahgainst Browns and Dolphins. that can happen.
- Chiefs : have to win against Lions and Jets. doable. I see a 2-0 record here
So after that reviw, there won't be 10 teams at 8-8. So Overreaction. Next one.
Chris Flockman : Going to the other football, or soccer as the world cup is entering its final stages. There have been surprises with Argentina needing a surge to beat Egypt. So, Here I say : the World Cup final will Marocco against Norway !
Rich Pilsen : Hmmmmm boy ... soccer is not my cup of tea, but ... overreaction. Norway would have to beat England and Argentina (I don't see the Swiss doing much but we said the same about Egypt). Norway Vs England is 50/50 game for me. Against Argentina also 50/50. I see this because Norway can control the ball and Haaland can just receive three balls and score all those 3. So Norway in the final I can see that.
Marocco can't win agains anybody but they have the tougher path. They have France and probably Spain if they win. France can strike you at any time and Spain kills you by ball control. They have the talent to match but no.
Chris Flockman : Alright then ! Back to PTF.
We know there is always rumors and whatnot around the Dallas Cowboys. The last one was that GM Shapiro would step down and look for another team. that dismissed later, but when there is smoke there is fire. So, I proclaim here : the Cowboys will have another GM next year and Apolo Shapiro. And that will be a swap of GM between Dallas and Denver !
Rich Pilsen : Wow ! And a wow like Brady Pitt claimed in fight Club when Ed Norton fires the gun at the explosive filled van.
I do think a move elsewhere by apolo shapiro is possible ; but a swap no. And not with Denver. Because GM Fernandez has the stack roster to make a run at a repeat or a three-peat. I don't see him moving from Denver until Manning retires. So no. Anoter team Swap : no. Other GM have enough years and projects going to just swap. An hot seat GM booted by the owner. Sure. So overreaction at its upmost definition.
Chris Flockman : the last one for today.
Chiefs GM just submit to the League Commitee the idea of creating a PTF Europe like did the NFL decades ago. The proposition is : "A PTF Europe where PFT teams can choose up to three players to develop like it can be done with training camp. Overall Madden grade can’t be higher than 70, and they would have a bonus on 3 key attributes varying between 1 and 3 points of retribution. The numbers of attributes will be down one per year after the first with no more than 3 years in PFT Europe (as it was for NFL players during NFL Europe). Those players won’t be eligible to AP points use during the span in Europe.". My take : this won't ever happen because the investment is too steep and the GMs too cheap !
Rich Pilsen : Chris : that is an harsh judgment on those GMs. You don't know them to point the finger like that. This said, business is business, so the Investment should have a nice ROI. And I definitely think the GMs see one ; because :
- They will have a feet abroad where the football love is strong and getting stronger. they definitely gain money with merchandising and such.
- They can develop some players
So overreaction.
This said, how you do it is what may cold them. Because with Madden and League Pulse that may have some problem. If you send a player, is it form the roster or from the practise squad ? If roster that means you have players on the cap and roster requirement that can play. that is a tricky situation. that can be a real challenge some GMs would love to face, but others won't. That means you don't guarantee fairness. And how do you it in LP ?
That is a great idea. I think before telling GMs are cheap, just see what the League techs and nerds can say about that.
