2007 PTF MOCK DRAFT V2.0- MY FINAL MOCK
1.1- Oakland Raiders- CB Darrelle Revis- Pittsburgh
PTF Grade: A+
Oakland begins the 2007 PTF Mock Draft by selecting one of the most complete defensive prospects in the class with Pittsburgh cornerback Darrelle Revis. The Raiders had several options available, but adding a potential shutdown corner gives their defense a true cornerstone player. Revis brings outstanding instincts, elite coverage ability, and the confidence needed to match up against the league's top receivers. In a passing-driven league, finding a player capable of eliminating half the field is a franchise-changing move. Oakland continues building its defense around young talent and secures a player who could become the face of the secondary for years. This is a selection that combines immediate impact with long-term value and sets the tone for the entire draft.
1.2- Green Bay Packers- DL Alan Branch- Michigan
Previous Pick: QB JaMarcus Russell
PTF Grade: A
Green Bay makes one of the biggest changes from Version 1.0 by moving away from quarterback and strengthening the defensive front with Michigan defensive lineman Alan Branch. Coming off a 3-13 season, the Packers needed impact players who could immediately change the identity of the team, and Branch brings a rare combination of size, power, and athletic ability. He has the tools to become a dominant interior presence capable of controlling the line of scrimmage and improving the entire defense around him. With a young offensive foundation already developing, Green Bay chooses to build through the trenches first. This selection gives the Packers a potential defensive centerpiece and sets up their future draft strategy.
1.3- Chicago Bears- ILB Patrick Willis- Ole Miss
PTF Grade: A+
Chicago stays true to its defensive identity by selecting Ole Miss linebacker Patrick Willis. Few prospects in this class bring the combination of instincts, leadership, athletic ability, and toughness that Willis possesses. The Bears have always built their success around a dominant defense, and Willis gives them another elite-level player capable of becoming the centerpiece of that unit. His ability to stop the run, cover in space, and make plays from sideline to sideline makes him one of the safest selections in the draft. This pick is about maintaining a championship-level defense while adding a player who can lead the team for the next decade. Willis is a perfect fit for Chicago's football philosophy.
1.4- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (via Detroit Lions)- WR Calvin Johnson- Georgia Tech
Previous Pick: WR Sidney Rice
PTF Grade: A+
Tampa Bay makes one of the biggest moves of the draft by trading up with Detroit to secure Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson. The Buccaneers clearly identified Johnson as a franchise-changing talent and were willing to sacrifice draft position to ensure they landed him. Johnson brings a rare combination of size, speed, athleticism, and receiving ability that gives Tampa Bay the true No. 1 receiver it has been searching for. His presence immediately changes the way defenses must prepare and provides a future quarterback with an elite weapon. Trading into the top five is a major investment, but when the player has Johnson's upside, the risk is justified. Tampa Bay lands arguably the most talented offensive player in the class.
1.5- New Orleans Saints- S Aaron Rouse- Virginia Tech
Previous Pick: DL Alan Branch
PTF Grade: B+
New Orleans changes direction after losing out on Alan Branch and adds Virginia Tech safety Aaron Rouse. Rouse brings rare size for the position along with physicality and versatility that can immediately improve the Saints' secondary. His ability to play near the line of scrimmage while also contributing in coverage gives New Orleans more flexibility defensively. Although some may view this as a slight reach compared to other available prospects, the Saints are targeting a player with significant upside. Rouse has the athletic profile to become a difference-maker and provides another young piece for a defense looking to take the next step. This selection addresses a major need and adds toughness to the roster.
1.6- New York Giants- OT Joe Thomas- Wisconsin
PTF Grade: A+
The Giants land one of the safest prospects in the entire draft with Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas. Protecting the quarterback and controlling the line of scrimmage has always been a major part of New York's identity, and Thomas fits that philosophy perfectly. His combination of technique, athletic ability, and consistency gives the Giants a potential franchise left tackle who can anchor the offensive line for years. While other teams chase skill-position players, New York invests in one of football's most valuable positions. Thomas has the talent to become one of the league's premier offensive linemen, making this an outstanding selection and a perfect match between player and franchise.
1.7- Carolina Panthers- WR Sidney Rice- South Carolina
Previous Pick: WR Calvin Johnson
PTF Grade: A
Carolina adjusts after Tampa Bay moves ahead and selects Calvin Johnson, but still lands an excellent receiver in South Carolina's Sidney Rice. Rice brings size, body control, strong hands, and the ability to make difficult catches in traffic. While Johnson may be considered the more explosive prospect, Rice offers tremendous upside and has the tools to become a legitimate No. 1 receiver. The Panthers needed more firepower in their passing game, and this selection gives them a young offensive weapon capable of developing into a focal point. Carolina misses out on its first target but still walks away with one of the best receivers available.
1.8- Green Bay Packers- QB JaMarcus Russell- LSU
Previous Pick: S Aaron Rouse
PTF Grade: A
After addressing the defensive line earlier, Green Bay finally selects its quarterback of the future with LSU star JaMarcus Russell. The Packers' decision to pass on Russell at 1.2 and still land him at 1.8 gives the front office tremendous value. Russell brings elite arm strength, size, and franchise quarterback potential. Combined with the young talent already on the roster, Green Bay now has the opportunity to develop a long-term answer at the most important position in football. This selection completely changes the outlook of the franchise. After a difficult 3-13 season, the Packers leave the top of the draft with both a defensive cornerstone and a potential franchise quarterback.
1.9- Detroit Lions- WR Steve Smith- USC
PTF Grade: A-
Detroit stays aggressive after moving down from the top five and adds another explosive offensive weapon in USC wide receiver Steve Smith. The Lions were able to gain additional value from Tampa Bay while still landing a receiver capable of becoming a major part of their future offense. Smith brings excellent quickness, route-running ability, and the toughness needed to consistently create separation. While Calvin Johnson and Sidney Rice received more attention, Smith has the talent to develop into a reliable playmaker at the next level. Detroit continues adding young talent around its offense and shows patience with its draft strategy. This selection proves the Lions were able to maximize their trade opportunity while still finding a player who fits their long-term rebuilding plans.
1.10- Detroit Lions (via Tampa Bay Buccaneers)- ILB Lawrence Timmons- Florida State
PTF Grade: A
Detroit turns its trade-down strategy into a major win by selecting Florida State linebacker Lawrence Timmons with the pick acquired from Tampa Bay. After moving out of the top five, the Lions still land one of the most athletic defenders in the class while gaining additional value. Timmons brings speed, versatility, and playmaking ability to a defense searching for a new identity. His ability to attack the quarterback, cover in space, and make plays from sideline to sideline gives Detroit a potential defensive cornerstone. This selection highlights excellent patience from the Lions' front office. Instead of forcing a pick early, Detroit moved back and still landed a player with Pro Bowl potential.
1.11- Cincinnati Bengals- OLB Justin Durant- Hampton
Previous Pick: RB Marshawn Lynch
**PTF Grade: B+
Cincinnati changes direction from its original selection and adds Hampton linebacker Justin Durant. The Bengals focus on improving their defense with an athletic linebacker who brings excellent speed and versatility. Durant may not have the same national recognition as some players selected earlier, but his physical tools and ability to make plays in multiple areas make him an intriguing prospect. Cincinnati has plenty of offensive talent already and chooses to address a defensive need with this selection. Durant represents a player with significant upside who could become an important part of the Bengals' future defense. This is a solid value pick that balances the roster.
1.12- Arizona Cardinals- S Dashon Goldson- Washington

**PTF Grade: A-
Arizona continues improving its secondary by selecting Washington safety Dashon Goldson. The Cardinals needed more athleticism and playmaking ability on defense, and Goldson brings range, toughness, and the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. His ability to cover receivers, support the run, and create turnovers makes him an excellent fit for a defense looking for more consistency. Arizona passes on its previous linebacker selection but finds a player who fills an equally important need. Goldson has the tools to develop into a long-term starter and gives the Cardinals another young piece to build around.
1.13- Washington Redskins- ILB/OLB Anthony Waters- Clemson
Previous Pick: OLB Justin Durant
**PTF Grade: B+
Washington shifts its focus to Clemson linebacker Anthony Waters, adding another talented defender to a growing young core. Waters brings size, strength, and the ability to contribute in multiple linebacker roles. The Redskins value versatility, and Waters provides flexibility in how they can deploy their defense. Washington continues building a faster and more physical defense, and Waters gives them another player capable of becoming a long-term contributor.
1.14- New York Jets- WR Dwayne Bowe- LSU
Previous Pick: TE Ben Patrick
**PTF Grade: A-
The Jets upgrade their passing attack by selecting LSU wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. Bowe brings excellent size, strong hands, and the physical style needed to become a reliable No. 1 target. This selection adds another weapon to a young offense and gives the franchise a potential cornerstone receiver.
1.15- Baltimore Ravens- DE Brandon Mebane- Cal
Previous Pick: DE LaMarr Woodley
**PTF Grade: A-
Baltimore stays committed to its defensive identity by selecting California defensive lineman Brandon Mebane. While the Ravens previously targeted LaMarr Woodley, Mebane provides a powerful interior presence capable of disrupting offenses. His strength, toughness, and ability to control the line of scrimmage make him a natural fit for Baltimore's physical style of football. The Ravens have always valued defense, and this selection continues that tradition. Mebane may not generate the same attention as an edge rusher, but his ability to impact the game from the inside makes him a valuable addition.

The Broncos understand that rebuilding requires talent throughout the roster, and McDonald gives them a young defensive back with the athletic ability to develop into a reliable starter. While replacing a future Hall of Fame quarterback creates uncertainty, Denver maximizes its return by adding a young quarterback prospect and a first-round defensive talent. McDonald provides valuable upside at a premium position and fits the Broncos' new direction of building a younger, more athletic roster.
1.18- San Diego Chargers- LB Zak DeOssie- Brown
**PTF Grade: B
San Diego continues building one of the league's most talented rosters by adding Brown linebacker Zak DeOssie. The Chargers were already a competitive team, so this selection focuses on adding depth and versatility rather than filling a major weakness. DeOssie brings toughness, athletic ability, and the flexibility to contribute in multiple defensive roles. His football intelligence and physical style make him an intriguing developmental player. While he may not have the immediate impact of some earlier selections, the Chargers are investing in a player who can become a valuable contributor within a talented defensive system.

The Falcons originally targeted Greg Peterson but upgrade significantly with a proven high-level prospect.
