Indianapolis Colts Pre-Draft Free Agency |
| Colts sign a bevy of UFA to fill out their roster and solidify many spots on their roster. Colts signed two backup QBS, veteran Gus Frerotte and youngster Spergon Wynn. We added some speed and depth to our WR room signing MarTay Jenkins, who likely be the KR starter and be the 3rd/4th receiver. Filling out the Tight End room will be Erron Kinney, who is not a blazer but an amazing blocker. Filling out the D-Line will be youngster Defensive tackle Matt Mitrone. Middle Linebackers Brandon Spoon and Tyreo Harrison will be great additions to the already solid linebacking core. Cornerback David Macklin returns as a RFA, and maybe the biggest pickup for the Colts was Strong Safety Shaun Williams. Danny Boyd will be the backup kicker to Vanderjagt this season and they will take over as Mike retires the season after. |

2025 Indianapolis Colts Offseason Report
2025 Indianapolis Colts Offseason Report

Notable Departures
- RG Waverly Jackson – Released after two seasons. GM cited age and declining performance.
- RE Chad Bratzke – Let go following a locker room incident, marking a cultural reset.
Trades and Acquisitions
- From Lions: LT Jeff Backus
Sent: 3rd-round pick
- From Falcons: FB George Layne, DT Ed Jasper
Sent: 5th- & 6th-round picks
- From Broncos: CB Deltha O’Neal, 6th-round pick
Sent: 1st- & 4th-round picks
- From Eagles: WR James Thrash
Sent: 6th-round pick
Contract Restructures
QB Peyton Manning restructured his deal to create additional cap room, underscoring leadership and team-first mentality.
Final Analysis
The Colts prioritized proven veterans and roster depth over draft capital. By offloading aging players and reinforcing both lines and secondary, they appear focused on a playoff push under a solidified core led by Manning.Backus represents an immediate starter along the Offensive
line. Layne will start at Full back and Jasper will be a rotational pice along
the Defensive line. Big draft picks were sent out to acquire defensive back
Deltha o Neal, who will become an immediate starter at Cornerback. Veteran
James Trash will likely be the 3rd wide receiver, after Harrison
& Wayne. We paid up for a few players but also got some great deals on
others.
