SEAHAWKS BEST TEAM IN FOOTBALL |
Hello Folks!
Just a quick note from GM Rock. Our beloved Seahawks finished 14-2 this year to lead the PTF in wins. I don’t recall having had a team go 14-2 before so this may be a historic occasion for Rock led teams.
A big shout out to the Titans who in week 15 started their backup instead of their starting QB. Not sure if that was planned, but it certainly handed us the win.
What is most notable about this is we have played the last 4 games of the season with our two starting CB’s injured. We lost our stud CB Lucas week 13 and lost our #2 CB Fisher week 9. It has been pretty much up to QB Hasselbeck and his athletic group of receivers to carry the team to this record. We’ve pretty much had to score 40 points per game to end the season to rack up the wins.
We sit first in the PFT and get the first-round bye. The bye was our real goal, with the hope that one of our CB’s can get healthy sooner rather than later to help our defense out. As always, all of our playoff hopes to depend on Matt Hasselbeck’s arm in what could be his last playoffs in a Seahawks jersey. Will he ride off into the sunset a superbowl winner? Or will he lose out like he did last year after getting injured early in the playoffs.

SEAHAWKS 2007 Draft |
Kind of a stream of blabbler that I wrote down as I was drafting..
Weird draft for me… haven’t picked this low in the draft in a while. So didn’t really scout the top players all that much, didn’t want to get disappointed that one the guys I want went earlier… as they were ALL going to be gone before my pick.
Had my eyes on few outliers such as MLB Watters but he was nabbed at 1.21. I did personal workouts on 7 players and none of them skewed very well. Second draft in a row where my workouts didn’t find me a guy to take, but I guess it did show me who not to take. In particular I worked out a bunch of Tight Ends, and they all skewed the wrong way. Meant I left this draft with no Tight End picks despite the fact I had lots listed on my draft list and have every intention of taking one early if they were any good.
Another surprise for me was I figured I would for sure be drafting a MLB out of this class. There were a bunch of them and they were all good. The problem was this was the linebacker draft and folks went heavy on Middle Linebackers starting in the first round. By the time my pick came, none of them were the high guy on my list. So came away with no linebackers drafted at all.
So, who did we take?
1.30 – LT Chris Denman – loved his strength, awareness and his overall blocking skills. He skewed down a bit but should still be a solid starter for me. Give him a few seasons of progression and he should be very capable for us. Have always had good luck drafting Olinemen in the first round.
2.30 – QB Trent Edwards – we considered taking him in the first round as he was our highest ranked Quarterback in a shit quarterback class. We like most things about him but his age. Not sure what direction we are going to take as our current QB Hasselbeck has at least one more good year in him. Project but possible long term starter. That’s why we took the gamble in the second round.
4.30 – HB DJ Ware – Likely the last year for Shawn Alexander starting for us as his age is up there and his contact is up at the end of this upcoming season. We had our eyes on HB Ilaoa but he as nabbed just before a second round pick by the Bengals at 2.27. He was our target in the second round. Ware was another gamble, his overall abilities looked ok… it was what would happen with his speed. Well the gamble didn’t pay off and Ware was faster at his pro-day then he is in real life. Could be another long term project to be a starter, we shall see.
5.30 – P Adam Podlesh – we needed a starting Punter and Pod was our second ranked guy. Once inhouse we discovered his leg isn’t quite as lively as we thought. But his accuracy is higher than anticipated. So could with some work end up as a serviceable punter. The problem is he is following in the footsteps of the incomparable Scott McMahon, the Ball Beast who punted balls into orbit. Not sure if Podlesh starts or we pick up veteran punter and work with Pod until he is safe to put on the field.
6.30 – SS Brannon Condren – we needed Strong Safety depth and Condren was only one of two left in the draft class. Not much to say, not very athletic but his awareness and tackle are solid.
7.30 – C Leroy Harris – another position of need. We were quite pleased with the Harris pick as he is better than expected and could start in a pinch if needed. Not sure if he is going to be a permanent depth guy or a long term starter. That could be determined by incumbent all-god centre Richie Incognito’s contract negotiations. Basically an option if needed, but solid backup for us.
So that was the draft. No tight end or middle linebacker picks despite us going into it thinking we would likely be taking both positions early based on the draft class. The guys we looked at either skewed down or were gone before we could take them. We ended up with a starter on the offensive line, a potential QB of the future and some riverboat gambling at our Halfback and Punter positions. We shall see how that all plays out. |

SEAHAWKS 2015 DRAFT UPDATE |
Hello Folks!
I haven’t written an article in a while… a matter of life and laziness meeting at the same corner. But while I was waiting to make my picks I figured I’d write up a quick article.
Full disclosure… I missed the pre-draft Free Agency period as I was on the beach in Mexico. That was fine with me, I don’t often compete for top free agents so I was ok making up for it later.
In addition I didn’t do that much prep for the draft. I think I finally ran the draft numbers on the Tuesday and did more of a deep dive on Wednesday. Then the draft came Thursday.
Well here are my picks and what I thought about them:
[b]1.20 – C Richie Incognito Jr. [/b]– Looking at the mocks and listening to the chatter I actually had HB Frank Gore targeted with this pick. Now I don’t need a HB but his talent was looked too good to pass up. To my surprise the Bears swooped in and took him at 1.17. From that I swiveled to the top guy left on my books with was C Incognito. What a player! Fully formed man with 97 STR and 87 run and pass blocking. With 68 AWR this guys is ready to start. Through in the fact he is a nasty piece of business… well he will be leader of my Oline until he retires. I can’t wait to watch him bully dlinemen across the league.
[b]2.20 - LG Logan Mankins[/b] – Oh yeah… you want to play Seattle? Welcome to the RAINDOME! Mankins and Incoginto together means we have two of the nastiest players in the league playing beside each other! I did come into the draft wanting to add to my Oline. We have been using old veterans and young kids who didn’t really have a chance to succeed. Mankins isn’t as athletic as Incognito but with his 96 STR and 86 PBK and 88 RBK he will be solid in the middle. We are ecstatic with our first two round picks.
[b]3.20 – WR Jacoby Ford[/b] – This pick should be of no surprise to anyone. The most athletic player in the draft goes to Seattle… just as it should be. I’m sure he fell cause he’s short and his AWR was low but we brought him in for private workouts and he’s even faster than was first reported! And his AWR was underestimated. He will be a great weapon we can bring out to work opposite Koren Robinson our stud WR.
[b]5.20 - WR Airese Currie[/b] – we fully expected to take a backup QB or OT with this pick. Imagine our surprise when Currie, who we were considering taking at 3.20, fell into our laps. Private workouts shown him to be even more athletic than everyone thought. He was too good to pass on and will likely work out of the slot on our 3 WR sets. Our WR core has been immensely improved by this draft… even though we had no intention of adding to it.
[b]6.20 - DT Andrew Hoffman[/b] – Again came into this spot expecting to pick up a backup QB or OT but then this player was still on the board. We seriously considered him at 3.20 and likely would have taken him if we had a 4th round pick. Just a big, strong kid. He is faster then first noted and has solid fundamentals. Could not be happier he was her for us to take at this pick.
[b]7.20 - QB Jason Campbell [/b]– we only have one QB on the roster so wanted to draft another to add to our depth. Campbell is nothing to write home about but he was the best of what was available.
So that was our draft. We got shockingly good value into the 6th round and might consider this one of our best drafts ever! See when the season kicks off. |
